Snooper's Charter

It has been reported that AirBnB have agreed that it will share data with the HMRC on hosts’ income in the financial years 2017/8 and 2019/20. This was brought to light in a statement in their latest set of accounts which have recently been submitted. The details were released as part of a deal struck with for HMRC after an investigation to AirBnB’s tax affairs and was on top of an additional £1.8m on top of the £1.1m tax bill that it paid for the 2019 financial year. It’s worth noting that HMRC could opt to go back further up to 20 years in some cases and so if you operate in this space, it may be worth speaking to speak with your accountant with regards to the matter.
